Tuck Everlasting opens April 26 on Broadway

“Tuck Everlasting” is a musical based on the story of an American youngsters’ novel “Tuck Everlasting” written by Natalie Babbitt in 1975. It sold over 2 million copies and is considered a children’s classic. The story has been adapted to two movies, one in 1981, and the other in 2002. The stage production showcases songs by Chris Miller and lyrics by Nathan Tysen with direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw.

The musical had its pre-Broadway opening at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Georgia in 2015. It opened on Broadway on April 26, 2016, at the Broadhurst Theatre, in New York City. The stars are: Carolee Carmello as Mae Tuck, Michael Park as Angus Tuck, Robert Lenzi as Miles Tuck, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Jesse Tuck, Valerie Wright as Mother, Terrence Mann as the Man in the Yellow Suit, Michael Wartella as Hugo, Fred Applegate as Constable Joe, 11-year-old Sarah Charles Lewis as Winnie Foster, and Pippa Pearthree as Nana.

 

Ten year-old Winnie Foster is fed up with her family and wants to run away from home. She accidentally finds the wonderful key of the Tuck household and meets members of the Tuck family. They tell her of a magical spring that, if the water is drunk, that person will find life everlasting. A mysterious man in a yellow suit discovers where Winnie is and tells her real family where she is. The Fosters ask the man in a yellow suit to find her and bring her home. The audience follows Winnie on her remarkable journey that changes her life forever.
